    A Quick Update

    Hi Everyone,

We just wanted to post a quick update on the film.  We’re currently in the final throes of polish & detail work.  Basically, we’re tinkering with color, audio and a few graphical bits.  The film is about 98% done.

At the same time, we are planning, organizing and starting to book the film’s release.  You may have noticed a conspicuous lack of a release date on the site.  We’re waiting on a couple very specific pieces of the puzzle to fall into place before we’re able to announce where and when you can start seeing Indie Game: The Movie.

We’re not trying to be coy with the release date at all.  We just can’t announce anything just yet.  Bbbuutt, we can say that what we do have in the works is kinda, really amazing.

We hope to announce as soon as we possibly can.  But rest assured, the movie is in a really good place.  Everyone we’ve screened it for has been exceptionally positive.  We’ve started in on Special Edition content.  T-Shirts & Artwork is forthcoming.

In short:  Lots of good things are happening :)

That's great to hear! I really can't wait to see the movie. Do you promise us a release date in 2011?

Ahhh, we a bit shy about promising dates. There is a chance that it could get pushed to January 2012. It would not be any later than that.

As soon as the dates firm up, we'll make it public and let people know. We know it's a bit frustrating waiting for a film, but not even knowing what date you're even waiting for. We'll try and clear that confusion up as soon as we possibly can.

    Thank for writing in!

I would rather have a polished doc that would give the Indie scene a lot more exposure. Release it when it is a little more than ready.

I'm not trying to speak for everyone (although I think my opinion is shared by many), but I would much rather see a great movie released in 6 months than a mediocre movie released tomorrow.

To quote Miyamoto, "A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever." This, of course, applies to all works, not just games.

Release the movie when it's ready and not a moment sooner.

Good to hear about your progress!

Curious. Is the release of the DVD pre-orders going to wait until after festival runs, or be as soon as film is ready?

Also, you should really be sending this sort of notification directly to your buyers instead of just a post to the site.

    @Shawn

Hey Shawn, Yes. The DVDs & Dig DL's will be distributed after the initial festival & theatrical tour. We're still working on the timelines and details, but there will be a period of theatrical/screening exclusivity of sorts.

But, we hope to keep that window as tight as possible/reasonable.

In terms of this update - you're right it should've gone out to all preorders. It did go out to all the Kickstarter peoples (via KS's auto updates), but we should've also sent out to the Paypal folks as well.

We're a bit hesitant to send *too many* emails. And given that this post didn't have hard information in it, we keep it only on the site.

We *definitely* have a state-of-the-union post/email coming out soon. There are some really exciting announcements happening soon that will set everything in motion, and start to attach dates/timelines to everything.

Thanks so much for the feedback and definitely thank you for the support! We really appreciate it & it is helping make IGTM a much better film (even the orders that come in at this later stage)!

Thanks again, can't wait to get you your S.E. !
