    Fantastic Fest 2010 - Thought We'd Share...

    Hey Folks,

Nearly one year ago we started our main block of filming for Indie Game: The Movie.  The first stop on our shooting tour was a very cool event called Fantastic Arcade in Austin, TX.  Fantastic Arcade is a sister event to Fantastic Fest - a huge, exceptionally cool genre film festival put on by the Alamo Drafthouse.

Fantastic Arcade is a curated showcase/festival/celebration of independent games happening Sept 22-29.  Last year was the first year for the event and it had a great execution and vibe to it.  It’s a combination of an indie title arcade (likely the only place you’ll find a Norrland cabinet), organized tournaments, and (best of all) some really good talks and presentations from some great independent devs.

Fantastic Arcade is a direct bridge between the worlds of independent gaming and genre filmmaking.  Gaming and film both use genre and artistic style to tell stories and create memorable experiences that excite audiences around the world. These two mediums embody what the Fantastic Fest and Arcade are all about.

    - Mike Plante, Arcade Artistic Director.

Year 2 is looking every bit as good as last year.  With spotlighted titles & dev talks including titles such as  FEZ (Phil Fish), Faraway (Steph Thirion),  Octodad, Serious Sam (Vlambeer), and many more.  Check out the full list here.

Oh, but here’s why we’re writing.  The Fantastic Fest folks were doing a photo round up of last year’s event and we were asked if we had any pics.  We put together a selection of stills from the arcade room itself.  We forwarded them to the fest, and thought you might enjoy a browse as well.  Click here for the full set of pics...

And naturally, if you’re anywhere around Austin - do yourself a favour and go check out the event (it’s FREE!!!!).
